Captain Sir Tom Moore
We are saddened to hear the news that Captain Sir Tom Moore passed away yesterday. He was an inspiration to our young people and we are proud of the connection he had to Keighley and our school.
In May 2020 we asked Captain Sir Tom if we could name one of our buildings after him, as a former student and as a mark of the respect and admiration we have for all that he has achieved. We received a lovely letter from him kindly giving us permission, which is displayed in school. The building now named Captain Tom Moore Centre provides support for those of our students that face significant challenges in life. It was they and the staff they work with that requested the centre name.
Captain Sir Tom enables others to aspire and as a Keighley student showed us that we can all make a difference if we work hard and think selflessly. He embodies our ambitions for our learners with his selfless service to others, humility and resilience to face whatever life sends your way.
Our gratitude goes to Captain Sir Tom and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
