Brilliant Debating.
On Monday 11th July, we held our first Beckfoot Oakbank Debate Competition.
This was an opportunity for members of our school's Debate Club to showcase their skills and go head to head in front of an audience of parents and teachers. We started with a debate on the topic of Animal Testing, with fantastic arguments from the opposition (Esme and Isabella ). The opposition (Riley and Eli ) just had the better of them with some excellent points of information and won this round. A second debate on the topic of The Patriarchy followed. The opposition (Mya, Thomas and Riley ) put forward some really interesting ideas, but the opposition (Evie , Evie and Isabella ) were the victors, giving some excellent answers to questions from the audience.
The competition culminated in a final debate with the winning teams from the previous rounds having only 5 minutes to prepare arguments on the topic of Social Media. Both teams did an amazing job, and the overall winners were Evie, Evie and Isabella.
