Letter to Families - 8th April 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,

Earlier this term I wrote to you about our expectations of student behaviour and how we as a school community would tackle students who do not meet our expectations. These expectations were shared with students through assemblies and in the tutor programme and have been revisited throughout the term.

Over the last ten weeks we have seen a significant improvement in student behaviour and the school building is significantly calmer. These positive steps are reflected in feedback from students, staff and visitors. This is a good start but there remains more to do to ensure our students maximise learning time and enjoy the success they deserve.

The vast majority of our students know what is expected and make the right choices day in day out. On the occasions that they make a poor choice they accept the consequences and sanctions for this and learn from their mistakes. When students do not meet expectations within lessons they will be removed from the lesson and asked to work in an internal remove room.

After the Easter break, we will be explaining to students exactly how the internal remove rooms will work from Tuesday 3rd May and will also write to you with further details. Putting in place these systems will allow us to ensure that all students can continue to learn and allows teachers to focus on delivering high quality lessons.

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that they arrive on time, in the correct uniform with the right equipment each day and are ready to learn.

I am sure you will want your child in school and in lessons on time every day as we know that this is the best place for them. We value your support in meeting and maintaining our high expectations as we know how much this can positively impact their future.

We look forward to seeing the students return on Monday 25th April at 8.20am in the correct uniform and ready for the summer term.

Have a lovely break

Yours Sincerely

Liz Hart
