Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

Careers Education Information and Guidance (CEAIG)

career

Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) is embedded throughout the curriculum, assembly programme and our tutorial offering.

At a time when the future of our children is at the forefront of our minds more so than ever before, we are confident this programme will provide students with the skills and information they need to make informed decisions about their choices at post 16 and beyond.

Our offering is shaped by key developments within the labour market to ensure the content being delivered is current and meaningful. To help us achieve this Beckfoot Oakbank follows the Good Career Guidance and have embedded the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks. The Gatsby Benchmarks are a framework of 8 guidelines that define the best careers provision in secondary schools.

They are as follows;

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

Our offering is underpinned by Unifrog. Unifrog is a complete destinations platform which allows students to explore and apply for courses at colleges, apprenticeship providers and universities. It also aims to refine employability skills, and assistant students in creating CV’s and personal statements. Students will be provided access to the site through out years 7-11, however should you wish to be provided with parent access in order to support your child please get in touch and a login can be created for you.

At Beckfoot Oakbank we are committed to adapting to the needs and feedback of our school community. Our CEIAG activities are subject to an annual review with both teachers and students alike being invited to evaluate the programme. Feedback will also be sought after any ad hoc CEIAG assemblies, employer engagement or career drop down events. We will use this information along with year 11 destination data to further shape and refine the programme for the next academic year.
