Y11 Parents Evening

Dear Parent/Carer,

Year 11 Parents’ Evening

We have the pleasure of providing you with the details of Beckfoot Oakbank School’s Year 11 Parents’ Evening and Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 2nd December 2021. Our Parents’ Evening will be virtual this year.

Y11 Parents’ evening will be accessed via an online platform called SchoolCloud. The online appointment booking system allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers. When you have booked your appointment times you will receive an automatic email confirmation of your appointments.

The appointments on the evening are from 3:30pm until 6:30pm. Appointment times are arranged at 5-minute intervals and due to the nature of video appointments, staff and parents are asked to keep their conversation to 5 minutes as the call will start and finish automatically as per the schedule. We would ask you to be ready for each appointment, as if you join late, the time to talk to that teacher will be reduced. If it is possible, please can your child also be on the appointments.

The online booking system will be available from Thursday 18th November 2021 to start making appointments and will remain open until 10:00am on the day of the event.

To access the appointment booking system, please click on the Parents tab and then Parents Evening on the  Beckfoot Oakbank website or visit https://oakbank.schoolcloud.co.uk/. A short guide on how to make appointments is also available under the Parents Evening section, along with how to join the video calls. You can also access them here http://www.oakbank.org.uk/parents-evening-2/

All students in Year 11 are expected to attend the evening with their parents. Online appointments with individual teachers should be used to discuss student results from mocks/ recent assessments and what is needed to ensure that your child fulfils their potential in the forthcoming GCSE exams.

During this evening, the school website will go  live with information about Post 16 and how to apply for September 2022. All the subjects on offer have prepared videos and activities which illustrate life in Beckfoot Oakbank Sixth Form. We have also provided careers links as well as future destinations. We have prepared a FAQs document and contact details to address any further queries you may have.

Post 16 Open Evening

As we approach Christmas in your child’s final school year, it is important to start the process of considering destinations for next year. As such we are pleased to invite you to our Post16 Open Evening on 9th December 2021 5:00pm-6:00pm. You will have the opportunity on the evening to  find out key information from all the subjects on offer, talk to current students and subject teachers.

The Sixth Form is a major strength of both the Trust and Beckfoot Oakbank School. Academic outcomes are excellent, pastoral care thoroughly embedded and our curriculum noted as a real strength in the last Ofsted inspection. We believe it is the right option for many of our Year 11 Beckfoot Oakbank students and want to ensure that our students make a secure choice for next year and future study.

We look forward to seeing you remotely at the parents evening and in person at the Post16 open event. Please do contact us at school if you have any questions.

Yours sincerely,

Chris Ray

Deputy Headteacher
