Dear Year 10 Parents/Carers 

Year 10 mock examinations will be taking place week commencing 19^th June and will be running for approximately two weeks, where pupils will be examined in the majority of the subjects that they are currently studying for. We would like to provide as much clarity as possible around the mock process as well as making you fully aware of all the support pupils can access in the run up to the Mock examinations. 

For our year 10 pupils these assessments/examinations are particularly important, as very shortly they will be in their final year before sitting their GCSE examinations in a year’s time. From these exams subject teachers will be able to ascertain what grade pupils are currently working at and, more importantly, can determine what work they will need to do with pupils throughout the rest of this year and into the next. 

Pupils have received an assessment booklet which outlines what will be examined in each subject, the structure of the different examination papers, access to revision materials and an examination timetable. You can access this booklet here 

Revision/Assessment And Parent Year Guides

In addition to this there has been an assembly going through the mock examination process to prepare our pupils and support the year group. We recognise that this will be the first time the year group has sat examinations in this formal way. Therefore, Ms Rhodes, Miss Majid and our well-being team will be providing pastoral support in the lead up and during the examinations. 

We take the Mock examinations very seriously at Beckfoot Oakbank and they are conducted under strict exam guidelines, it is a great opportunity for our pupils to practise the routines and regulations that will take place next summer. Therefore, there can be absolutely no mobile phones in the exam hall, they are to be switched off and put into bags before every exam. In addition, only see-through pencil cases can be taken into the exam hall.  

Lastly, for your information, there will be a small number of exams that may finish after the usual 2:40pm finish time.
