Year 11 Prom Update

Friday 18th June 2021

Dear Year 11 Parents/Carers,

Re: Year 11 Prom 15th July

Unfortunately, after the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday 14th June and communicating with our prom venue it is with regret to inform you that it will NOT be possible for the year 11 prom 15th July to go ahead. I am sure your son/daughter will be as disappointed as we are, not being able to attend this event that would have otherwise been a fantastic occasion, celebrating all the students’ hard work and resilience through what has been a tumultuous year. We can only apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience this will have caused but the decision to cancel was unavoidable and out of our control, with no alternatives.

We know many of you have paid for a prom ticket and the following information outlines how to claim your refund. The refund will be made by cheque to the first named parent/carer on our system which could take appx 4-5 weeks to be processed. Alternatively, a refund can be made through a bank transfer, for the bank transfer we would need your bank details emailing to finance@beckfootoakbank.org, this process would take approximately 2-3 weeks to process. If we do not receive an email requesting a bank transfer before 25th June a cheque will be sent automatically.

I am glad to report that as a year group and a staff body we had a fantastic day on their last day of term where pupils had the opportunity to share memories, receive awards and say goodbyes as a year group; this was all topped off with access to fair stalls and food stalls. There was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day where all the pupils enjoyed themselves, with lots of smiles and a few tears, it was great to see and be a part of.

Lastly, we have welcomed 100 pupils back this week from our year 11 cohort as they took part in their sixth form taster days. Not only was it great to see some familiar faces but more importantly the pupils had the opportunity to begin to experience what sixth form will be like in the next part of their education journey with us next year.

If you need any information regarding next steps, regardless of destination please feel free to contact Mrs Towers oakkto@beckfootoakbank.org, our careers advisor.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Ray

Deputy Headteacher
