Newsletter 6/5/2025

Thank you to the parents who attended the parent forum on Wednesday. We did see an increase in attendance, but we could welcome even more parents. The dates and information are below. All the staff who attended, including myself, found the session very useful, lots to think about, and lots of feedback, including how this Newsletter can be shaped in the future (just a little too late for these changes to be implemented in this newsletter, though).

The students across school have made a great start to this term and we have lots to celebrate, as you can see and read about below. A big shout out and good luck to our Lego team (pictured below) who competed at a national level this weekend!

Year 7 news

We have had a great week in Year 7, enjoying the great weather, particularly at lunchtime when lots of our Year group play football on the Astro pitch. On Wednesday, we had an assembly from PC Knappy on Knife Awareness – this was full of helpful information to our students about safety and some of the statistics behind the headlines.

Today, we celebrated students’ achievements in lessons with our weekly Golden Ticket draw. It was also great to recognise some classes who have been collectively making great progress in lessons and demonstrating an excellent attitude to learning.

Year 8 news

We have numerous successes in Year 8 to celebrate. Huge congratulations to Ella B, who has been successful at a dance competition in the USA over the last few weeks. Best of luck to the Lego team as well, who are going on to compete in the National Finals in Harrogate this year. As teachers, we have loved seeing the team develop and are inspired by how much they support each other. We’ve also had some great success with the Year 8 Football Team, who have been described by Mr Richmond as one of the most talented school teams he has ever worked with. We have also had brilliant success from the girls’ cross-country and football teams. As their SLT link, I am continually blown away by their resilience, intelligence, and zest for life! Keep up the good work Year 8.

Year 9 news

Year 9 have had a brilliant start to the term with some key sporting achievements to start the term well.  Archie Ainsworth, Sam Bean, Jacob Wilkinson and Dexter Hickman all represented school for Badminton and beat Appleton Academy 5-4. It meant we dealt Appleton their first loss of the season! Well done team year 9.

We have been working hard to build attendance and drive our learning habits as a year group. The students have been very polite and completed some great work in their morning meetings. Our focus on LH1 which is Positive response has been well received, and many students now say good morning and thank teachers for their efforts. We are becoming a truly supportive and nurturing year group.

Year 10 news

As we enter the summer term year 10 learners are focusing on a strong finish to the year.

We want to support our learners to do their best in the public exams they will sit in 2026, and the experience of sitting trial assessments is a valuable opportunity to help them prepare.  This week, we have informed the year group that they will be sitting formal, exam-conditioned, trial assessments in their chosen studies in June to ensure they have real-life experience of such exams before they enter their final year. They can use the knowledge organisers issued in each cycle to support their revision and should be encouraged to revise as needed.

Year 11 news

It has been fantastic to see so many of our year 11 students attending the after-school masterclass sessions over the past two weeks and the revision sessions that ran over half term. We are in the final stretch now, and we are doing all we can to ensure Year 11 students are as successful as they possibly can be. Please see below for the remaining masterclass sessions, which will run up until half term. Please keep an eye out for a letter arriving in the next few days outlining arrangements around exams and the end of term for year 11. Well done to Sydney-Jo S, who achieved 5 golden tickets this week. Outside of school, I would like to offer huge congratulations to Adam R, who is representing England on the English Pool Association’s under-18s team.

Gardening club

Students at CTMC are beginning to see the impact of their hard work as the centre has come into bloom with vibrant tulips and elegant lilies. The outdoor space, once bare, is now full of colour and life, thanks to their commitment and care. It’s been brilliant to see them respecting their environment and taking pride in the changes they’ve helped create. More than just a gardening project, it’s become a space for reflection, teamwork, and growth. We’re incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved and how they continue to shape their surroundings in such a positive way.

Parent forum

We are excited to invite you to be part of our School Parent Forum! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents/carers, share ideas, and collaborate with school staff to enhance our students’ experience and success.

Whether you have ideas to share, questions to ask, or simply want to stay more involved, the Parent Forum is the perfect space for open conversation and positive change. Your input and perspective are incredibly valuable as we work together to support our school community.

The meetings are held at 6pm -7pm either face to face with light refreshments, or virtually, on the following dates :

  • Wednesday 4th June
  • Wednesday 9th July

If you are able to help then please email [email protected] for further information.
