As we say goodbye to two year groups we welcome another…
This week has seen our leavers’ assembly for year 11 and year 13 upon completion of their GCSEs and A-levels respectively. A huge congratulations to both year groups! Both leavers’ assemblies on Tuesday were fantastic occasions, featuring student awards, nostalgic pictures and recorded messages from staff; it was wonderful to see the year groups celebrating together and marking the end of the year. We were incredibly impressed with how well the students conducted themselves and they all looked incredible in their decorated white shirts. On behalf of everyone at the school we wish our students the very best in the next chapter of their lives and hope they have a wonderful summer. A massive thanks to the year teams and staff that make such a special event happen.

We welcomed year 6 students from fellow Trust school Beckfoot Nessfield this week as part of their transition programme before they join us officially next year, exciting. During their visit they participated in a P.E. activity, conducted a chromatography experiment and dissected a heart! The students had a great time and it gave them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with our school and be introduced to some staff.

Year 7 News
This week Year 7 had a great assembly from Olivia at Kooth.com which is a digital mental health platform that provides free, anonymous, and confidential support for young people through online counselling, self-help resources, and peer community forums. It is designed to be a safe space where users can access emotional well-being services without the need for referrals or waiting lists.
Over the past two weeks, Year 7 have shown an outstanding commitment to our values of Enjoy, Learn, and Succeed, even in the warm summer weather. They’ve stayed focused in lessons, showing curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. It was wonderful to see them enjoy last week’s Cinema rewards event, a well-deserved celebration of their hard work and attendance. Their cheerful energy and respectful behaviour continue to set a brilliant example across the school.
Year 8 News

This week our assembly focused on mental health and what we can do as a community to keep one another safe. The year 8 boys did fantastically in a rugby competition in Warrington. The boys won 3 out of 7 games. On a different day they could have easily won 5. Thank you to Mr Richmond for taking the boys across for the competition. The photos are great but one young man does need to remember he doesn’t always need to stick his tongue out!
Year 9 News
Last week and this week we have been practicing our year line up from 8.20 until 8.40. The year 9 students have been truely amazing and worked so hard to be ready to learn and entering the building with dignity and respect. It has been a real pleasure to work with the whole year group developing clear routines to support learning.
This week we had an assembly focused on mental health and what we can do as a community to keep one another safe. The students were introduced to a new app that has been developed to support students’ mental health in school. The assembly was respectful and all students actively listening to our guest speaker.
Year 10 News
This week the year 10 cohort have begun their first formal mock exams. We are incredibly proud of how well they have focused on this important milestone, entering the main hall and engaging with some last-minute revision guidance before moving to the sports hall to sit in strict exam conditions for up to 2 hours 15 minutes at a time.
The mocks continue until the 26th of June and you may find your child is more tired than usual over the next few days as they revise on an evening and sit exams for up to 4 hours per day. This experience is designed to give them an insight into what they can do to maximise their results in year 11, by becoming familiar with the routines and expectations now they have one less thing to worry about in the run up to their public exams next year.
Last week we celebrated those students with excellent attendance and no negative behaviour points across the school once more. This time their reward was a cinema experience in our main hall which over 100 of our Y10 students experienced.
As we come to the end of the year there will be more celebrations and reward opportunities for every child, details will be shared across the usual platforms as the time approaches.
