Newsletter Friday 18 September 2025

We continue to enjoy a really positive start to the academic year, with students settling into routines and engaging well in their learning. Attendance has been strong across the school, and we’re grateful to families for supporting our shared commitment to excellent attendance—every day really does count.

Our new Year 7 cohort have made a fantastic start, quickly adapting to secondary school life and already contributing positively to our school community.

Last night’s Open Evening was a brilliant success. We welcomed a record number of parents and carers, and the atmosphere throughout the evening was warm, energetic and full of pride. A huge thank you to all the student helpers who represented the school so confidently and enthusiastically—it was wonderful to see so many of them volunteering to support the event. The feedback from families was overwhelmingly positive, and it was a real celebration of everything that makes our school special.

Year 11 News

It has been a brilliant start to the year for the year group, with students already demonstrating they are ready to make the step up into Year 11 and make the most of the year. In what will be a busy time for students with coursework deadlines approaching and mock exams in November, it is important to remember that by each student turning up every day and doing their best, it will make a positive contribution to the grades they receive when they open their exam results next summer. To support students there is a P6 programme that has already started, where students can stay an additional hour after school to access specialised support from their class teachers to help them move towards and above the grades, they need for their next steps.

It is also important to maintain balance in this busy year by keeping up with activities away from studies. Recently one of our students (Stanley Shaw) completed a 56 mile walk to raise money for the East Cheshire Hospice, with the aim of finishing it in under 24 hours. Stanly successfully finished the event with a time of 23 hours and 46 minutes. A huge well done, Stanley!

Looking ahead, there is also a broader range of Enrichment Activities being offered to students in school in the coming weeks. There will be a variety of activities offered across lunch times and after school for students to further their learning beyond the curriculum. Keep an eye on the school website to see if there is anything extra you would like to get involved in and come along.
