Newsletter – Friday 19th December

Head of School Update

In our last newsletter, I shared how our Heads of Year have been working closely with students to strengthen leadership and voice across the school. This term, we’ve taken the next step by holding our very first Student Leadership Team meeting, pictured below. It was fantastic to see students sharing ideas and shaping the future of our school—this is just the beginning of an exciting journey for them; we’ll keep you posted with the progress of the group.

As we come to the end of the first term and approach the festive holiday, I want to reflect on what has been a truly positive and productive period for our school. We have reached some key milestones that show we are improving and moving in the right direction. These achievements would not have been possible without the dedication of our committed staff, the support of our parents, and, of course, our wonderful students. Thank you for everything you do to help us thrive.

Thank you once again for your continued support. Wishing you and your families a joyful festive season and a happy New Year.

Year 9 News

Parents Evening: Thursday 22 January 2025 3.30pm to 6.30pm

It has been a pleasure to work with the Year 9 pupils this term. It’s been lovely to see so many of our pupils engaging in Student Leadership and Lunch / After School Clubs and learning in lessons.  We’ve had 23,169 golden tickets awarded and 43,699 learning habit 3s since September where pupils are getting it right in lessons every single day.  This is amazing.

Our rewards assembly at the end of term was lovely to see so many of our young adults getting it right on educake, with their tutors and making massive improvement.  The Head of Year and Assistant Head of Year awards this term went to:  Aaliyah K, Georgia B, Aadam D, Rose F and Jamie A, Leah G, Ava K, Zayan K, Austin B and Layla I.  Any student getting an award should be proud of themselves.

We also had pupils just enjoying being in school – organising their own Secret Santa or just looking at the beautiful sunrise which is equally important.

We are having a strong start on Monday 5th January first day back where we will reset expectations and make sure everyone is ok after the long break.  Ms Humpherson, Ms Farrar and Ms Rashid wish you all the very best for the end of the year and the start of the next and look forward to meeting you all on Parent’s/Carer’s Evening to discuss options for Key stage 4 (GSCE and BTECs).

Post 16 News

Well done to our Year 12 students who have been accepted onto the Reach for Excellence programme. This initiative supports students with the potential to progress to a research-intensive university, offering valuable guidance and opportunities to help them achieve their ambitions.

Our Year 13 students have been extremely productive in submitting their UCAS university applications ahead of the upcoming deadline, and it has been a pleasure to see offers already being received. Students pursuing apprenticeships have also been proactive, taking positive steps towards securing their future destinations.

Our charitable efforts this week, including a raffle and Christmas accessory days in support of Sue Ryder, raised over £200. This brings our total charitable fundraising for the term to more than £700. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed so generously.

We ended the term with our rewards assemblies, celebrating students’ achievements and positive contributions, and were delighted to welcome a special visitor to help mark the occasion.

We wish our sixth form students a healthy and happy break over the Christmas holidays and look forward to 2026.
