Our curriculum has been designed to teach students the causes, effects, and responses to the significant human, physical, and environmental processes around us.
The lessons aim to cultivate students’ cultural capital, advance their literacy and numeracy skills, and develop a range of transferable skills to help prepare for their future. They will debate and discuss issues, developing their ability to think, speak, and write like a geographer.
Our enrichment offer provides opportunities for fieldwork within our local area, such as Haworth. We have previously visited Bolton Abbey and Malham Cove students.
Formative assessment is used throughout the year to monitor student progress and further inform teaching and learning. Summative end of topic assessments are used to address any misconceptions.
Career examples are strategically integrated into our curriculum with students exploring a range of jobs such as climatologist, humanitarian aid worker, town planner, agricultural researcher and careers in energy.
