PE at Beckfoot Oakbank

The Beckfoot Oakbank PE department ensures a passion for sport and physical activity in PE to allow all learners to build positive lifelong habits and equip all learners to be able to lead healthy, active lifestyles.

All students succeed in PE through learning essential knowledge and practical skills, enrich their cultural capital and build character to ensure they can be successful in their career and enjoy their life choices.

PE is a remarkable subject to help students to attain lifelong skills and knowledge for a healthy active lifestyle. They will develop mental strength and grit that permeates all aspects of their educational life and beyond, while gaining the ambition to reach their full potential and be their very best.

Enrichment

Opportunities to learn beyond the classroom
are embedded in KS3 and KS4 to further students love and passion of PE. Students can engage in football, basketball, netball, badminton, cheerleading, rugby and table tennis outside of lessons.

Assessment

Summative and formative assessment will be used throughout KS3 to monitor pupil progress and further inform teaching and learning.

We make links to Careers in PE, particularly through the KS4 and KS5 courses where there is an emphasis on coaches, elite performers and technology and how it can be utilised effectively. This is then linked to the core
PE curriculum where appropriate.
