Religious Education at Beckfoot Oakbank

At Beckfoot Oakbank we aim to make our students successfully open-minded, theologically resilient global citizens.

Our lessons encourage students to think deeply and critically by evaluating evidence, developing an understanding of different groups and communities, analysing interpretations and makin judgments, to be able to challenge poisoned narratives and have an understanding of religious beliefs and practices and non-religious views.

We aim to give students the knowledge and the skills to be able to think globally as well as ‘speak like a theologian’ and to be confident in articulating their own thoughts and opinions. To be able to understand how and why others have different views based on their worldviews.

Enrichment

Students have access to a wide range of enrichment activities. These include a joint Humanities trip to Bolton Abbey, a Year 8 trip to Quarry Bank Mill and a Year 10 trip to the National Holocaust Memorial.

Assessment

Summative and formative assessment will be used throughout KS3 to monitor pupil progress and further inform teaching and learning.
