If you see your future career in science, the Level 3 BTEC in Applied Science will act as an excellent starting point for you, as you develop the skills and knowledge for a perfect foundation for further education or employment in sector. You will cover a wide range of topics that will allow you to acquire a high level of laboratory skills alongside learnt theory.
You will learn by completing laboratory-based assignments, supported by self-study assignments, presentations and discussions based on real workplace situations. External assessments will make up 58% of the overall qualification, with the other 42% being internally assessed.
Applied Science (AAQ) | Pearson qualifications
Mandatory units: General science, working in the science industry, perceptions of science, science fundamentals and scientific practical techniques.
Optional units: Physiology of the human body, medical physics and chemical analysis.
Applied Science will lay the foundations for a variety of careers in the science sector, while preparing you for further study or apprenticeships.
There will be various opportunities to visit universities and see their exceptional laboratories in action.
We also have many links with many in the local industry who visit for talks.
