PSHCE at Beckfoot Oakbank

At Beckfoot Oakbank, we aim to make students successfully open-minded, global citizens through lessons that encourage students to think deeply and critically.

Our students are encouraged to think deeply and critically by evaluating evidence, developing an understanding of different groups and communities, analysing interpretations and making judgements that challenge established narratives.

We aim to give students the knowledge and skills to be able to think globally as well as to be confidence in articulating their own thoughts and opinions. To be able to understand how and why others have different views based on their worldviews. Students will explore their own beliefs and those of others and understand how these can change and impact on the lives of others.

Enrichment

Students have access to a wide range of enrichment activities, these include a joint humanities trip to Bolton Abbey, a trip to Quarry Bank Mill, and a trip to the National Holocaust Memorial.

Assessment

In years 7, 8 and 9, internal assessments will take place throughout each year to monitor pupil progress and further inform teaching and learning.

Careers

  • Law
