Industrial Action Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
Re: Further Planned Industrial Action – Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July 2023
We write to update you on our planning for the latest strike action in schools. The NEU have confirmed that members of the union intend to take further industrial action on Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July. The strike action relates to a national dispute around teacher and school staff pay. School will be partially open to students and details are listed below by year group.
- Y12 The school day will run as normal. The LRC, Sixth form study area and sixth form common room will be available to Post 16 students all day.
- Year 10 students: Periods 1 to 3 will take place on both days covering English, Maths, Science and PE Students should attend from 8.20am and will finish at 12.10pm. They will need PE kit on Friday 7th July. Year 10 students will be able to collect a grab bag before leaving at 12.10pm
- Years 7-9 Nurture groups please attend school as normal 8.20am – 2.40pm as you have done on previous strike days.
- Years 7, 8, and 9 can access remote learning materials for the day from home, available through Teams.
- CTMC will be closed to students who ordinarily access their provision in the centre. Remote learning materials will be available through Teams.
Students who are in receipt of Free School Meals can collect a grab bag from the Ingrow Lane entrance (Sports Centre) between 12noon and 12.30pm.
We apologise for any disruption closure/partial closure causes you. We have not taken these decisions lightly and had to make plans that secure the health and safety of your child and any non-striking staff in consideration of anticipated heavily reduced numbers of staff.
We hope that by putting in place these contingency plans we can limit any impact the strike could have to your child’s education.
If you need any further information or support with any of the above, please contact us at office@beckfootoakbank.org
