Partial School Closure for Industrial Action

Dear Parents and Carers,

Further Planned National Strike Action at Beckfoot Oakbank – Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May 2023

We write to update you on our planning for the latest strike action in schools. NEU have confirmed that members of the union intend to take further formal industrial action in a strike on Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May 2023. The strike action relates to the continued national dispute around teacher and school staff pay.

School will be partially open to students and details are listed below by year group.

  • Year 11, 12 and Year 13. Please attend school as normal 8.20-2.40pm.
  • Years 7-10 Nurture groups. Please attend school as normal 8.20am-2.40pm.
  • Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 can access remote learning materials for the day from home, available through Teams.
  • CTMC will be closed to students who ordinarily access their provision in the centre. Remote learning materials will be available through Teams.

Students who are in receipt of Free School Meals can collect a grab bag from the Ingrow Lane entrance (Sports Centre) between 12 noon and 12.30pm.

We apologise for any disruption closure/partial closure causes you. We have not taken these decisions lightly and had to make plans that secure the health and safety of your child and any non-striking staff in consideration of anticipated heavily reduced numbers of staff.

Lastly, we want to take this opportunity to reiterate that your child’s education is important to all staff at Beckfoot Oakbank. We hope that by putting in place these contingency plans we can limit any impact the strike could have to your child’s education.

If you need any further information or support with any of the above, please contact us at office@beckfootoakbank.org

Yours sincerely,

Liz Hart
